I suffered from depression after my marriage break up. In addition, my doctor took blood samples and confirmed
that I had hyperglycemia which was on the borderline of diabetes. She told me that it was essential for me to
exercise and diet in order to get things under control. I joined Curves and within literally a couple of months,
my depression went and my hyperglycemia levels were under control. I also lost the pain that I had been feeling
in my knees and beleive that the regular exercise helps to control my asthma. I feel so much more confident in
myself and am so much healthier that I now do voluntary work which has led to a part time job. I can honeslty
say that I owe my thanks to the Curves staff and all the friendly members for helping me to turn my life around.

When I joined Curves, I was actually undergoing physio at Frimley Park Hospital.
I'd had both hips replaced and I also had a dropped foot due to my sciatic nerve being
damaged. I am so pleased I joined Curves as it has dramatically helped with my mobility.
I do so much more there than I have ever done at any other gym in the past.

As a teenager, I was knocked down by a car and fractured my thigh bone resulting in a
year in hospital in traction. This left me with a very stiff knee which became difficult
to bend. I have always been self conscious because of this and therefore felt uncomfortable
in conventional gyms. At 60 years of age, I saw an advert for Curves. It took real courage
for me to go and have a look but this was soon forgotten due to the friendliness of the staff
and the very welcoming 'all women' environment. I assumed I would be unable to use the leg
apparatus but my knee has grown considerably stronger and I can now use all the machines.
I thoroughly enjoy exercising and no longer feel self conscious about my disability.

I had some problems with my back and went to a local sports clinic for treatment.
I mentioned to the doctor that I had recently joined Curves and he agreed that this
would be useful for helping to alleviate the symptoms of arthritis in my hands, lower
back and knees. Since then and for the past 2 years, I try to attend 3 to 4 times per
week and find that the exercises really do help. My condition certainly improved and
this is verifed by the data reports that I get from Curves. I also enjoy going to
Curves for both the exercise and the social interaction.

I am pleased to have found Curves. Having had 2 knee replacements, I find it
helps considerably to use the equipment and to stretch the muscles. I'm sure if
I went back to the hospital gym, they would be very impressed.

I am 62 year old Curvette and have retired from work. I have had brain surgery, both knees replaced,
suffered with type 2 diabetes and had weight problems due to my lack of mobility. Within 7 months of joining
Curves and with the support of the staff, I have lost weight, inches and toned up. But the biggest bonus is
that through regular exercise and with the help of my GP, I have able to reduce a lot of my medication and
have now reversed my type 2 diabetes back to normal. A plan of healthy eating, exercise and less medication
has also eased my hot flushes resulting in increased self confidence and making me a nicer person (according
to my husband!).

My heart attack didn't come as much of a surprise (there's a family history)
and I beleive that I coped quite well with the treatment and subsequent recovery.
However, my confidence plummeted and I barely beleived that I could live a 'normal'
life again. It was some 9 months later when I plucked up the courage to return to
Curves. I've only been back a few weeks but I can't beleive the change in me.
My confidence is returning and despite working out very slowly, I'm begining to
reap the benefits and my stamina is improving gradually. The staff are so kind.
They keep an eye on me and won't let me do too much. I have done other exercise
during the 9 month recovery period but this is the first time that I have been able
to do it without medical supervision. I'd like to say a huge thank you to the girls
at Curves for helping me to realise that life really can go on as normal.

I joined Curves for many reasons but the main one was having had 3 joint replacements
over a period of 5 years. Understandably, my mobility was not too good. Another reason is
that I come into the obese range on the BMI scale. Although I have only been a member of
Curves for 6 weeks, I can already feel my joints loosening up and increased mobility.
Hopefully, my weight will slowly go down also.

Hi, my name is Sue Miller and I'm 58 years young. In the past 5 years, I've had breast cancer, half a new knee, a rather
large gynae operation and high blood pressure. Thank goodness for Curves, the brilliant staff and the lovely members who do
the circuit with me! Their support along with the fun and laughter whilst working out has made my problems all the more easier
to deal with. The exercising has helped me tremendously. My blood pressure is down, my knee is mobile, I'm 4 years post breast
cancer and all my 'bits' are doing well. How's that for a success story? Keep up the good work Curves.

Since joining Curves in 2004, my high blood pressure and cholesterol are both down to a level where
my doctor is happy and my medication has been stable for the last 5 years. Exercise has certainly been a
major factor in bringing down and maintaining my blood pressure, cholesterol and my bmi.

I joined Curves in August 2006 after taking early retirement from work. My job was a sedentary one with many hours sat in
front of a computer. I was diagnosed as diabetic nearly 30 years ago. The nature of my job didn't help my condition and
I also developed high blood pressure. Within 6 months of joining Curves and working out 3 to 4 times a week, my blood sugar
levels reduced to an acceptable level and so did my blood pressure. Not only has my health improved since joining Curves
but so has my feeling of well being - largely due to the fact that everyone is so friendly there.
